Enabling evidence-based energy system decisions for sustainable development in Africa

Who are we

AISESA is operationalised as a Program of AKADEMIYA2063 a pan-African non-profit research organization.

What we do

Design context-specific national energy pathways. These includes strategic plans, implementation approaches, adequate policies and finance mechanisms for sustainable development.

Make Africa the centre of African energy, climate and sustainable development scholarship: AISESA reorients knowledge creation processes to be led by African scholars from conception to completion.

Enable evidence-based decision-making: AISESA collaborates closely with decision-makers to co-create policies and build the right capacities.

AISESA’s route to impact:

Policymakers

We co-design data-driven tools with policymakers and build capacity to create impactful, evidence-based energy, climate and development policies.

Society

We capture people’s energy needs and co-create solutions with communities that turn energy access into tangible development benefits which transform daily lives.

Business

We work with African entrepreneurs and business leaders to develop feasible, viable and desirable innovations tailored to specific local contexts.

Academia

Our AISESA Fellowship programme finances young and bright African academics to conduct world-class, context-specific energy, climate and development research.
