A working group of AISESA members studying the governance, environmental impacts, and value-addition opportunities of Africa's critical-minerals economy.
Africa holds a disproportionate share of the world's critical minerals — over 70% of cobalt, large reserves of copper, manganese, lithium, and rare earths. The choices made now about extraction, processing, and trade will shape African industrial futures for decades. Our group studies how those choices are governed and how more value can be retained on the continent.
Currently convened by Dr. Daouda Diop (UCAD) and Hassan Tijani (Alex Ekwueme University). 8 active members from 6 countries.
A network of early-career African researchers, fellows, and graduate students working across cluster boundaries to build the next generation of African systems leaders.
The Youth Network organises peer mentoring, methods workshops, and joint policy briefs by and for early-career members. We meet quarterly online, run an annual in-person convening, and host visiting-fellow exchanges between AISESA partner institutions.
